COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -New numbers from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) show high activity for respiratory illnesses in Colorado.
According to the report, in the 2023-24 season, there were 66 deaths related to the flu in the first seven weeks of the year, but in the 2024-25 season, there were 105 flu-related deaths.
For this season, the vaccines target the disease’s H1N1, H3N2, and Victoria strains. According to the CDC, now would still be a good time to get the vaccine to build immunity against the latest strains.
Other methods of prevention include:
- Cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Wearing a mask
- Washing your hands often with soap and water
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
