World Health Day launches “Breathe Health” campaign to launch a global effort to purchase oxygen and other life-saving supplies and treatments.
World Health Organization Ambassador Volunteer Champion Allison Baker is launching a new international fundraising campaign called “Breathe Health” at the World Health Organization (WHO). The initiative supports COVID-19 delivery of oxygen and other life-saving supplies to health facilities treating patients.
The first donation toBreathe for healthThe Allison campaign has provided support for locations in the Amazon, with support from Brazil and the State Department of Health in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health (PAO) and the U.S. Department of Health. Amazon Health Department.
“I am a proud Brazilian and I wish good health to my people. “By working together, we can overcome this difficult time and we will do everything we can to help our country, region and the world during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Allison, a Brazilian national football team and Liverpool Liverpool goalkeeper. While vaccines are promising for many countries around the world, there is a great need in many areas to provide essential medicines and equipment, including oxygen, to help people survive in our hospitals and clinics.
Allison’s contribution is used to purchase non-invasive air masks for patients in remote parts of Brazil due to COVID-19. The supplies will be sent to eight municipalities in the Amazon region: Cori, Humaita, Itakotiara, Labra Paintins, Sao Gabriel da Cachora, Tabatina and Tefe.
The rest of the donation will be used to purchase equipment to fill oxygen cylinders in the municipality of Tabatinga on the border between Colombia and Peru. These supplies will help solve the logistical problem of the need to relocate the cylinders.
PAA Director Carissa F. “Increased COVID-19 cases are causing some areas to receive higher living rates in intensive care units. With more and more patients being hospitalized, the Alison Baker-led partnership response could help provide health care workers in the region with much-needed supplies and equipment, including oxygen.
Oxygen supply is one of the top priorities of the World Health Organization’s 2021 Strategic Readiness and Response Plan, which aims to raise funds for individuals, charities and corporations.
Anil Sonny, CEO of the World Health Organization, thanked Allison Baker for his support of health facilities in the United States and for his role in mobilizing the “Breathe Health” campaign.
The response to COVID-19 is beyond the control of any country or government alone. The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund is an exciting example of the World Health Organization and its partners’ ‘Breathe Healthy’ campaign, which can mobilize anyone anywhere to support emergency response efforts.
