Harvey, Illinois — Today, the Cook County Public Health Department announced that it will be offering theme park tickets and pantry vouchers at its Harvey priority vaccination site Tuesday through Friday. this week and next.

On Wednesdays, June 9 and 16, anyone who gets vaccinated at the site, the Thornton Township High School gymnasium at 15001 Broadway Avenue, will receive a ticket to the Six Flags Great America theme park. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for the next two weeks, those who receive a COVID-19 vaccination will receive a voucher for a food basket at the Thornton Township Food Pantry.

“We know this is a tough decision for many and that organizing to get vaccinated can be problematic for some, so we want to reward Harvey residents and workers for making the right decision to help protect us all. Said Dr Rachel Rubin, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Head of the Cook County Department of Public Health. “Harvey and his surrounding communities experience lower vaccination levels than other areas in Cook County, so we want to do everything we can to encourage people to protect themselves from this deadly virus and to get vaccinated. “

Priority vaccination sites, including this site in Harvey, are located in and near the 32 priority communities identified by the CCDPH earlier this year. These municipalities are the most vulnerable to COVID-19, due to several medical and socio-economic factors, as well as the high risk of exposure to the virus. Priority sites previously opened in Summit, Lansing and Northlake have been successful in improving immunization rates in these communities and surrounding communities of color.
