The Northern Ireland Department of Health has reported 121 new cases of Covid-19 and one other death in the past 24 hours.
Earlier, data from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) showed that there had been one death linked to Covid-19 in the past week undergoing statistical analysis.
The death in the week of May 29 to June 4 brought the total number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded by NISRA to 2,976.
The data provides a broader picture of the impact of Covid-19 than the death toll reported by the Stormont Department of Health.
The department’s statistics focus primarily on hospital deaths and only include people who test positive for the virus.
NISRA obtains its data from death certificates on which Covid-19 is recorded as a factor by a healthcare professional, regardless of the location of death or whether the patient has tested positive.
The statistics agency reports its Covid-19 data with a lag of one week.
The death toll in the department stood at 2,154 on June 4.
Of the 2,976 deaths recorded by NISRA as of June 4, 1,972 (66%) occurred in hospitals, 774 (26%) in nursing homes, 14 (0.5%) in hospices, and 216 (7 %) to residential addresses or other places.
NISRA reported that until June 4, deaths of 1,011 nursing home residents were linked to Covid-19.
The figure includes the 774 deaths in nursing homes and 237 other nursing home residents who died in hospital after being taken for treatment.
Residents of nursing homes account for around 34% of Covid-19-related deaths in Northern Ireland, according to NISRA.
