Nearly 52% of Utahns aged 12 and over fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The Utah Department of Health is also reporting two more deaths in Salt Lake County and Iron County.

The Utah Department of Health reports that nearly 52% of Utahns aged 12 and older are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

With nearly 42% of the state fully vaccinated overall, the department reported that an additional 7,019 vaccines had been administered since the June 18 count, with 290 new cases of the virus reported since Friday.

Vaccine doses administered during the last day / total doses administered • 7,019 / 2,782,173.

Fully vaccinated utahns • 1,340,119.

Cases reported in the last day • 290.

Deaths reported in the past day • Two, a man from Salt Lake County between 25 and 44 and a man from Iron County between 45 and 64.

Tests reported the day before • 3,186 people were tested for the first time. A total of 5,618 people were tested.

Hospitalizations reported in the last day • 168. That’s two less than Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 69 are in intensive care, three more than Friday.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the original state method, the rate is 9.2%. This is higher than the seven-day average of 7.8%.

The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeat testing of the same individual. Saturday’s rate was 5.2%, slightly above the seven-day average of 5.0%

Totals to date • 411,361 cases; 2,328 deaths; 17,259 hospitalizations; 2,758,512 people tested.
