OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, at 3 p.m. there were a total of three additional cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) last week.

Monday’s weekly report has been pushed back to today due to the county buildings being closed to observe July 4.

As some pockets of Oswego County and its population have low vaccination rates and new variants continue to pose a potential threat, residents are still urged to get vaccinated if they are eligible and to encourage members of their family and friends eligible to be vaccinated as well.

“If you want to get the vaccine and you don’t have health insurance, just come to the clinic,” said Jiancheng Huang, director of public health for Oswego County. “There is no cost to you for the COVID-19 vaccine. If you received your first dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines and are due for your second injection, be sure to keep your appointment. There is still time for every resident to do their part to bring this virus under control and make our communities safe for all. “

the Oswego County’s next COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7 at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego. The Pfizer vaccine will be given to people 12 years of age and older. This is a two-dose vaccine and participants should plan to return on Wednesday, July 28 for their second injection.

Additionally, the Janssen / Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14 at the Oswego County Opportunities Office at Hillside Commons, 9 Fourth Ave., Oswego.

Walk-in visits are welcome, although online appointments and pre-registration are always appreciated to help reduce wait times and maintain efficient clinical operations. Go to https://health.oswegocounty.com/ and click on the “For local information on COVID-19 vaccination” link. All Oswego County COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic registration links are posted here.

The Oswego County COVID-19 hotline is also available to help people make appointments and answer any questions related to COVID-19. It is open at 8:30 a.m. at 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Call 315-349-3330.

The Oswego County Office for Aging can also help people aged 60 and over who need help surfing the internet to make an appointment. Call 315-349-3484.

Participants must bring ID to confirm their age and identity. Minors must verify that they are at least 12 years old or that a parent or guardian attests on their behalf. Those with health insurance must bring their health insurance card. However, health insurance is not compulsory and there is no cost to get vaccinated. People without health insurance can still get vaccinated for free.

Notes: The total number of positive cases in Oswego County has been cumulative since March 2020 and the number of healings and deaths matches these numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county figures, however, the county only tracks those who live in Oswego County. This means that students who chose to leave and return to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college scorecard, but not the county scorecard. Their positive result would be reported to their home country, not here.

The first two cases in Oswego County were confirmed on March 22, 2020.
