BC COVID-19 infections and hospital cases continue to drop – Hope Standard

British Columbia recorded 46 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, 47 Sunday and 30 Monday as long-term care facilities for the elderly continued without an outbreak of the virus into a second week.

Public health teams reported 66 people hospitalized on Monday, up from 74 on Friday, including 14 in intensive care, up from 19 during the same period. No new deaths have been reported during the three days linked to the pandemic.

Infection protocols continue in the areas of three hospitals in British Columbia, Royal Inland in Kamloops, Eagle Ridge in Port Moody and Laurel Place at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Active cases monitored by public health also continue to decline slowly, with 658 on Monday, against 661 on Friday. As of Monday, 78.8% of eligible people aged 12 and over had received at least one dose of the vaccine, with 47.4% having received two doses.

The 123 cases confirmed from July 10 to 12, by region, are:

• 38 new cases at Fraser Health, 175 active

• 38 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 257 active

• 42 new cases in Internal Health, 167 active

• no new cases at Northern Health, 30 active

• five new cases at Island Health, 22 active
