The optimism and hope of Indonesian athletes at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia

President Joko Widodo officially released the Indonesian squad that will compete in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The competing athletes also said they were optimally prepared to compete in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

One of them is Juan Laurent, who is an Indonesian basketball athlete who participated to compete in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. Juan said that he and the Indonesian basketball team were prepared and will fight to win and defend the gold medal.

“The preparation is 100 percent, we are ready to compete, we are ready fight In Cambodia, our goal is definitely to defend the gold medal because we had gold yesterday, it is also history for Indonesia and basketball, and we will try to defend it,” Juan said in a separate statement.

Juan also did not forget to ask the Indonesian people for their support so that the Indonesian basketball team could make the best results in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. In addition, the basketball team is also trying to defend the gold medal won at the 2022 Vietnam SEA Games.

“Citizens of Indonesia, Indonesians, please support us in basketball, I hope your prayers are very meaningful to us, I hope we can get the most out of Cambodia, we can fight from the first day to the final later and we will be able to bring the gold medal to our home country of Indonesia,” said Juan.

Not only Juan, Vivian, a female esports athlete who will represent Indonesia for the first time at the SEA Games Cambodia 2023, admits that she is very proud. He didn’t expect that his passion for playing Mobile Legends would lead him to become an esports athlete and participate in the SEA Games Cambodia 2023.

“The feeling was unexpected because we were playing games and we didn’t know that we could also participate in the SEA Games. Then it didn’t exist before, now there is, I feel like I’m proud, I can still get an invitation from Mobile Legends to the State Palace to meet Pak Jokowi,” Vivian said .

Vivian also hopes that the participation of esports athletes in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games can provide the best results for Indonesia. Moreover, they have also prepared for the upcoming match.

“Hopefully there will be golden girls in the Mobile Legends division, hope is certainly golden. But optimism is Bismillah gold,” Vivian said.

Brandley and Glindra, who are water polo athletes, also hope to provide the best results for Indonesia. They admit that they are very excited to compete in the SEA Games Cambodia 2023.

“We want to give the best to the people of Indonesia and also to all the troops, hopefully we can be the overall champion and give better love than last year,” Brandley said.
