Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) Secretary Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani then explained that Labuan Bajo is one of the very important destinations currently being developed by the government.

Indonesia’s Chief of Staff to the President (KSP) Moeldoko also admitted that he was not worried about the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo. He said Indonesia’s experience of hosting the G20 could be a reference for this meeting of the Southeast Asian bloc.

“At yesterday’s G20 meeting, we thought about it in detail and thank God it went well. We have experience with the G20 meeting. Although crowded and crucial, but it can be won quickly,” Moeldoko said.

The G20 summit will be held in Bali in November 2022. The event takes place in the middle of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the Western bloc’s criticism of Red Bear Country.

Western countries such as the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia have threatened to boycott the G20 summit. In the end, however, the event happened and led to a joint statement.

At the end of the summit, Indonesia handed over the G20 presidency to India. This year, Indonesia became the chairman of ASEAN. This will automatically make Indonesia the host of the ASEAN Summit.

The ASEAN summit will be held in Labuan Bajo on 9-11. May. After that, the 43rd ASEAN+ Plus Summit will be held in Jakarta in September.
