Suara.com – The presidency of the Indonesian Rescue Coalition (KAMI), Din Syamsuddin, compared the era of President Joko Widodo to that of the leader of the New Order, Suharto. This is because Din suspects that the current government wants to conflict with the Pancasila religion.

According to him, the Suharto regime has better control over the government because it is able to bring religious values to Pancasila.

“The most important thing is that Pak Harto occupies Pancasila and religion. Religion merges with Pancasila. Pancasila merges with religion. Don’t beat it and let alone detox,” Din quoted Terkini.id–network Suara.com, Thursday (10.10.2012).

According to him, Indonesia, which has a Pancasila ideology, cannot eliminate religious values in society. He also acknowledged that today’s society really needs a leader like President Suharto, who is called the father of development.

“Right now, the desire to separate Pancasila from religion is dangerous. It is impossible for the state of Pancasila to repeal religion. Then we remember the kindness of Pak Harto,” he said.

Din Syamsuddin also said that Suharto greatly put religious interests into building his government.

“In this era, development is too focused on physical infrastructure. Although non-physical is ignored. In the Soeharto era, religion was a priority. This includes interfaith harmony. There’s even a tendency to knit as a creator of solidarity, ”Din said.

Din also added that interfaith harmony is also no longer maintained, making it easy for conflicts to occur in the community.

“Well, the leaders didn’t do after that. Which even encourages the division of religious people within even one religion, ”said Din.
