An Alabama doctor describes how COVID patients are begging for the vaccine but can’t help but hold hands and tell them it’s too late

Amid rising cases of COVID-19, doctors are begging people to get their vaccines.

One doctor said, “It’s a choice between a jab or death.”

But anti-fax trolls attack these people online, making them nervous to speak out.

At a time when COVID-19 deaths in the United States are rising among unvaccinated people, doctors have been pleading with people to get their vaccines.

Dr. Brittney Kobia, an Alabama-based physician, posted an honest post on Facebook this week — sharing the life-saving importance of getting a COVID-19 dose on display.

“I am hospitalizing healthy young people with a very serious infection from COVID. One of the last things they do before they are intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them I’m sorry, but it’s too late.

“A few days later when I called the time of death, I hug their family members and tell them that the best way to honor their loved ones is to go for vaccinations and encourage everyone they know to do the same. They cry. And they tell them I didn’t know. They thought it was a hoax.”

On Thursday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, who has resisted public health measures due to the coronavirus pandemic, criticized her state’s unvaccinated residents.

“I don’t know, you tell me,” she said when asked what it would take to vaccinate more people. “People are supposed to have common sense. But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated people, not the normal people. It’s the unvaccinated people who let us down.”

Alabama has the fourth-lowest vaccination rate nationwide, according to the New York Times tracker.

Dr. Kobia’s job has attracted a lot of attention, with many praising her candid approach to sharing the lessons she learned from her work as a doctor in the pandemic. However, others ridiculed her with insults and death rows – which means she is now uncomfortable doing any media interviews – reported an NBC reporter who tried to contact Dr. Kobia.

The hate messages were even posted in the reviews section of Dr. Cobia’s web page.

Dr. Catherine O’Neill, a physician in Louisiana, echoed Dr. Kobia’s message at a July 16 press conference: “I want to be clear after seeing what I’ve seen in the past two weeks. We only have two choices: Either get vaccinated and end the pandemic. Or we’ll accept death.”

A number of people on Twitter responded to the video of Dr. O’Neill’s pleas, calling it “propaganda,” and that the Delta version had been “launched” in order to bring back the fear of COVID-19.

Currently, 40% of COVID-19 cases in the US are in just three states – Texas, Florida and Missouri – with low vaccination rates, with 1 in 5 cases in Florida alone.

Now, with COVID cases rising at an alarming rate — with 63,818 new cases recorded in the US on July 22 — Republican senators who have been reluctant to get vaccinated are urging people to get theirs.
