I’m Jared Hill. Lisa: We’re now seeing how the competition can take a different kind of athlete’s toll. Golestan: Joining us now is DEIRDRE FITZPATRICK LIVE FMRO DOCO. We just wanted to get in touch with you on this. We know that these athletes face a tremendous amount of pressure. The world is watching. But wouldn’t some argue that this is part of the game? Is this part of the deal you signed? >> No. [LAUTER]GH no. I think that’s what defines this moment. I think what I did today is one of the most noticeable things ever in esports that we have to talk about in the coming years. She normalized and said that it’s okay sometimes not to feel well. She came out very publicly and talked about the challenges of doing her job, giving everything she had to do. It represents American Gymnastics, the organization in which and many other athletes failed in the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, the largest sports scandal in history. It represents that organization. You made it clear how hard it is to take this MECO decision forward and be willing to do it again. When it’s athletes like Simone Biles or Michelle Phelps, who also put very similar things about NTALME’s health to BNGEI an Olympian who has the world’s expectations about his shoulders, it’s time that it’s okay, it’s okay for the rest of the United States to admit that sometimes we’re just not right Alright too. With what a DS is, an OE with awareness needs to be able to do the job, she knows when she moved in the safe today she can’t do the job. And she knew that not only was her own health in jeopardy, but she was also putting the team at risk for the dying period. To be able to say I need to step back is a really brave thing. What did you do then with SISO. It’s not gone, it’s gone there. She brought chalk to her women. I enjoyed them. She didn’t hide even if she knew the world was staring at her, wondering what was going on. I actually think this is going to be seen, as the years go by, as a turning point, because what you see is you see the athletes change their culture and their organization themselves. They don’t wait for Team USA to do it for them. Goulson: Your point is well taken. I guess the question is why are we seeing this only now? Why hasn’t TSHI really happened over the years and years? I have covered many Olympic Games. Why do we see it only now? >> Because we’re just starting to admit not just in sports, but in our lives in general, things are tough. And that mental health matters about 10 years ago before you started seeing more sports psychologists getting into every single sport, but a sports psychologist was teaching you how to get ahead in your head and in your head so you can win. Now a sports psychologist is training athletes how to keep their heads in tip-top shape, so when their sport is over, they’ll be fine. What they were seeing is that a lot of these athletes are going to finish through their athletic career and they may be 28 or 29 years old, they’ve never had any regular work like the rest of the athletes, U and they can’t, because they never did there was only a way one for life. So the mental health part of the ISTH program is already around the legacy of the Olympic, what are you going to do next? Let us guide you to make the transition easier. Last year those suffering from a pandemic, like us, have to adjust to a completely different kind of life. So they could set the 24 hour hotline for these athletes in their darkest moments and they could have asked for FOREL HP and they tweaked it to make it work for people to be able to say, I’m not feeling well now. So for people who have big teams, they can count on each other, but people in individual sports, that can be very difficult to do. On the podcast, which ran for several months, we tackled a whole mental health topic and every time I stopped recording, I always heard something from an athlete that was really honest, really unworkable. Each of them, like RESTF O US, struggled this year. Today, I have seen PERHAPS the most visual representation of a person at the top of the world, how each person is the number
