Xavien Howard took to Instagram Tuesday night to request a deal from the Miami Dolphins. The Pro Bowl corner player has twice mentioned that he’s outgrown his current contract and doesn’t feel appreciated by the organization.
Do we know a team that could use Pro Bowl corner services like Xavien Howard?
On the surface, the Pittsburgh Steelers seem content with Cam Sutton taking on the role of Stephen Nelson (Nelson is officially out of the market) – he didn’t pick General Manager Kevin Colbert Sutton in the third round for nothing. But eight games in 52 games is enough to make a Steelers fan a little anxious.
Putting together a business deal for Howard could fix what is arguably the biggest loss of Colbert’s 20-year career as Steelers GM.
And Howard’s addition to the list will also make it easier to swallow the thought of farewell to Joe Haden. Haden’s days in Black and Gold are numbered, anyway – he’s set to become a free agent after the season.
Bringing Howard to Pittsburgh will result in a safe reunion with Minka Fitzpatrick. The two played together for 18 games before Fitzpatrick came to the Steelers via trade in 2019.

According to Dolphins Wire editor Kyle Crabbs, for Miami to be satisfied with the ways to part with Howard, they will need to either get the NFL first-round draft 2022 and mid-level start 2021 or high-level start and Day Two selections).
Miami has Noah Egbenogen, the first all-rounder of 2020, and newly signed Jason McCourty on the roster. Crabbs believes that the trade package will need to include situations of need, that is, a traffic rusher or offensive lineman, to attract a legitimate interest.
The Steelers don’t trade in a springboard, nor even have a high-profile offensive lineman. Therefore, a deal with Howard will not happen, but a yinzer can dream.
