The Rockers Honor Zz Top Bassist Dusty Hill

[ad_1]

Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Stanley (KISS), Slash (GUNS N’ ROSES), David Coverdale (WHITESNAKE), Flea (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), and Billy Corgan (SMASHING PUMPKINS) are among the rockers who have interacted on social media with passersby. From ZZ TOP bassist Dusty Hill.

Hill died in his sleep at his home in Houston, Texas, according to the official ZZ TOP website. He was 72 years old.

The ZZ TOP concert that was scheduled to take place last night (Wednesday, July 28) in Simpsonville, South Carolina has been canceled in the wake of Hill’s sudden death.

Hale’s funeral arrangements have not been publicly announced.

ZZ TOP played without Hill last Friday night (July 23) at Village Commons in New Lenox, Illinois after being forced back to Texas for a hip problem. Filling it in at the gig is longtime guitar technique Elwood Francis.

On July 21, ZZ TOP canceled its concert in Evansville, Indiana due to a “health issue within the band,” according to local news outlet Evansville Courier & Press.

ZZ TOP started their last tour less than two weeks ago in Manchester, Iowa. The trip, dubbed “A Celebration With ZZ Top,” will continue in August with dates in the South, Midwest, and Far West. In the fall, the legendary cast, inducted by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will perform in the East, the South and in their native Texas. Residency at the Venice Theater in Las Vegas, which was postponed from last year, is now scheduled to begin in early October. Looking to 2022, a Canadian coast-to-coast tour has been announced in April and May.

When ZZ TOP announced the tour, Hill – who joined the band a year after they formed in 1969 – commented, “They closed the door right after our 50th anniversary tour and now it’s back open. We’re excited to get out there and play our music for everyone.” .

Fabulous! Dusty Hill. What a symbol. ZZTop guitarist forever. Unique. Always a gentleman from the days we opened them to the last days they opened to us. I don’t know what to say but “Thank you” and “Rest away but you choose well!” https://t.co/tHfjLy1xbj
