Snapchat is experiencing a major problem as of Thursday evening, with more than 125,000 users reporting issues with Downdetector. I tried logging into the app on my iPhone 12 Mini and now the app crashes every time I try to open the app. Two Verge employees can’t open the app either.
Snap acknowledged the issue in a tweet at 6:51 PM ET. “We are aware of an issue that prevents some Snapchatters from logging in,” the company said of the Snapchat support account. “Wait a minute, we’re looking into it and fixing it!”
This outage comes on the heels of a nasty bug from June where a version of the iOS Snapchat app crashes at launch. This bug was eventually fixed in an update released shortly after.
As always, I highly recommend following the memes people post on Twitter – they should provide a fun distraction until Snapchat is fixed.
