Hunter Biden to critics of his art: ‘m’

“If I were to make a plan, it definitely wouldn’t be me to paint,” Biden said, given how powerful his personal artwork is to him.

“I can just stay in my studio and paint for myself – and I eventually do – but it’s exciting to know that there is an audience, and that audience can get their own interpretation of what this painting means,” he said.

Several art critics recently told the West Wing Playbook that the value of art is closely tied to Biden’s younger title, a point Hunter Biden said he does not dispute.

“It’s been an unfair advantage in my entire life,” he said in the episode released Thursday. “It’s a lot easier to get noticed, not only by the cop pulling you over for speeding but also by the school or whatever the endeavor.”

The notoriety, he said, was only exacerbated by the attention generated by his known struggles with drug abuse, and his business dealings that caught the attention of conservative media during the 2020 presidential campaign.

“I think I’m the most famous artist in MAGA,” Biden joked.

The Biden administration has allayed concerns that the art gallery risks undue political influence and said there is an agreement with the George Burgess Gallery to protect the identity of the buyer from the president and his son, as well as from the White House and the general public.

For his part, the younger Biden said he had no say in determining the value of his art, and noted that the market can be “totally personal, sometimes totally arbitrary, and sometimes completely unrelated to anything at the moment.”

“I never said my art would cost what it would cost, or how much it would be priced with. I would be surprised if my artwork sold for $10.”

Biden, who insisted he’s not interested, also admitted that while his family name could give him opportunities, there is a limit.

“If you don’t come with the merchandise, it can be a really horrible experience,” he said. “So I don’t do it lightly, nor do I do it without my knowledge that there are so many great artists who never get the chance to find an exhibition or share their art with the wider world.”
