Senators Joe Manchin (DW.Va.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) said they believe the massive infrastructure bill has enough support to pass the Senate, with Manchin saying the chamber should “finish” by Thursday.
Why it matters: A bipartisan group of senators, including Manchin and Collins, have been negotiating the deal for months and cutting it close to their own self-set deadline to pass the measure before the August recess.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Manchin expressed his optimism, saying, “When you see Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell vote on the same thing, it’s unbelievable.”
Collins said the text of the bill is likely to be released Sunday evening and senators will begin “considering some amendments.”
The big picture: The Senate voted 67 to 32 last Wednesday to advance the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure measure.
At the time of the vote, parts of the bill remained unwritten. Collins told Jake Tapper that “large portions of the text” have already been shared with Senate offices and lawmakers.
17 Republicans voted with Democrats to introduce the bill.
