With a lot of interest in the sudden infection of COVID-19 recently, the data is helping determine how likely it is that anyone who has been fully vaccinated will be hospitalized or die as a result of the coronavirus. Less than 0.004 percent of fully vaccinated people in the United States face hospitalization after a breakthrough case and less than 0.001 percent have died from COVID-19, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data cited by CNN.

As of July 26, the CDC reported 6,239 hospitalizations of COVID-19 among those fully vaccinated, and 1,263 deaths. Nearly three out of every four breakouts occurred among adults 65 years of age or older.

Data on hack infections is a little tricky because the CDC stopped monitoring it on May 1 and not every state collects and presents information in the same way. In an analysis of available state data, the Kaiser Family Foundation noted that not all hospitalizations and deaths among those fully vaccinated were in fact due to COVID-19. However, data from states that release the information make clear what experts have long said, hospital admissions and deaths are extremely rare among those fully vaccinated. Penetrations among vaccinators are less than 1 percent in all states and hospitalizations range from zero to 0.06 percent. Death rates from fully vaccinated people were even lower, recording virtually zero in all but two of the reporting countries.

More than 58 percent of the US population over the age of 12 has been fully vaccinated in the United States, according to CDC data.
