The bipartisan infrastructure bill in a rare Sunday hearing more earlier this year but includes a broad range of funding for roads, seating bridges, broadband and water.
Sinema said from the Senate floor with the other negotiators.
Portman promoted the bill, saying the group “will get it right tonight for the American people, for our economy and for the future of our great country.”
Backers of the bill hope to be able to pass the measure by the end of the week, although opponents can use the Senate’s rule book to pull it out if they want to.
Although the bill, called the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act, costs an estimated $1.2 trillion over eight years, it includes only $550 billion in new spending. This, according to the White House, includes the largest-ever investment by the federal government in public transportation and the largest-ever investment in clean drinking water and wastewater.
The bipartisan presentation of the bill concludes months of behind-the-scenes negotiations between lawmakers, including the announcement with Biden in late July that they had reached agreement on a framework for a $1.2 trillion bill over eight years.
After talks appeared on the brink of collapse last Monday amid intense public fighting, senators and the White House managed to get them back on track and announced Wednesday that they had reached agreement on “key issues.”
But they have spent most of this week trying to resolve the final sticking points, including last-minute hiccups over broadband that negotiators say was not resolved until Friday. This kept negotiators in the constant expectation that they were on the verge of unveiling their bill but weren’t quite ready, sending the Senate into a rare session over the weekend.
The Senate met on Saturday at 11 a.m. and remained in limbo for about 10 hours while it waited for the group to pass its legislation. Warner noted Saturday that parts of the bill are still being drafted, saying they are in the process of finalizing “the last two parts of legislative language.” Senators seemed optimistic Sunday morning that they would be able to unveil their bill quickly.
But the group spent hours fine-tuning and revising the text on Sunday, keeping the Senate in session until late evening. The final point of contention, according to Senate negotiators, was over the appropriations.
Senator Bill Cassidy Senator Bill Cassidy said the infrastructure bill in a rare session Sunday is growing optimism that the infrastructure deal will reach Biden’s office. He told The Hill.
The Senate deal has already crossed two hurdles last week, with support from 17 GOP senators, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Addison (Mitch) Mitchell McConnell Sunday’s rare, ‘Can’t Imagine’ Manchin supporting the change to disrupt voting. Biden’s bipartisan deal faces more Senate challenge (Kentucky). The Senate was using an unofficial bill, but Schumer began the exchange Sunday night in a bipartisan text.
Members of the bipartisan group are optimistic that they will be able to pass the bill by the end of the week.

We want to move forward,” Senator Joe Mansion introduced the bipartisan infrastructure bill at Sunday’s rare session in Mansion over outcries Democrat lunch boos: I heard many of Schumer’s words: Democrats are ‘on the right track’ to pass a bipartisan deal, according to a budget of MORE 5 trillion (DW.Va) for “Face the Nation” on CBS News on Sunday.
The bill is expected to face days of debate on the Senate floor, as Republicans, and some Democrats, are eager to try to make changes after being on the sidelines of the bipartisan group’s negotiations.
Conservatives were immediately outraged by the bill.
“I have real concerns about this bill. Lots of them,” Senator Mike Lee Michael (Mike) Shumway Lee Senator introduced a bipartisan infrastructure bill in a rare session Sunday, Biden faces a bipartisan agreement in the Senate, and the GOP faces steps to mask authorization protest.
Lee also worried about the plan, which had the support of Republicans in the group, to pass the bill quickly this week.
“This body has no business to pass this legislation in just a few days,” he told me, noting that he could not support it. “We need at least a few weeks.”

Passing the bipartisan deal in the Senate would be a huge win for Biden and Senate negotiators who have placed big bets that they will be able to strike a deal, even as conservatives criticize the deal and resent progressives over the months they spent negotiating.

Democrats are pursuing Biden’s comprehensive infrastructure and spending proposals on two tracks: a bipartisan proposal, which would need at least 10 GOP votes to pass in the Senate, and a separate $3.5 trillion package in which they would use budget rules to pass without GOP support in the Senate.
The Progressives pushed for the two parts to be combined into a single bill, allowing them to bypass protracted negotiations with the Republicans. But Biden has publicly committed to getting bipartisan support for at least part of his proposal, and moderate Senate Democrats, whose votes would be required for the $3.5 trillion bill, have warned that without bipartisan legislation the overall package could collapse.
Schumer pledged that the Senate would vote on both the bipartisan bill and the budget resolution, which gives the green light and includes instructions for crafting a $3.5 trillion package, before they depart for a weeks-long summer vacation.
“Look, I set two very ambitious goals for the Senate this summer, and we’re now well on our way to achieving both,” Schumer said Sunday night.
Democrats appear confident of getting 50 votes in favor of the budget resolution, even though they face major battles over the content of the spending bill itself later this fall.
But they are expected to lose the first week of their summer vacation, which was due to begin on August 9, in order to pass the budget resolution.
“I expect the budget resolution won’t come up next week but next week. It will pass,” Senate Budget Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders introduced Senators to a bipartisan infrastructure bill in a rare session Sunday, illustrating a bipartisan victory in the structure The underlying idea is that Democrats must continue to work across the “land we” corridor – a tribal activist shifting from Keystone XL to Line 3 more (I-Vt.) told reporters this week.
