The Welsh government has announced that almost all coronavirus restrictions in Wales will be lifted from Saturday as the country moves to alert level zero.
But not all rules will be canceled at the same time, with masks remaining one of the things to stay. Some things, like social distancing, change from legal requirements to directive but there are some rules that remain different in Wales than in England, where all restrictions have been lifted.
For example, from 19 July, the wearing of face coverings indoors or on public transport is no longer a legal requirement in England. But in Wales, masks will still be a legal requirement indoors in some indoor public spaces. Go here to read an in-depth analysis of how the rules are now different in the four UK countries.

As always, the Welsh government says the announced rules are in place while public health permits and changes will be made if the situation worsens. Below are the rules and guidelines that remain in effect as Wales enters alert level zero.
As part of this review, face masks will no longer be required in hospitality settings from Saturday, August 7. However, even at alert level zero, face coverings will still be a legal requirement in public places, such as on public transport, in stores, and when. Get health care.
The use of face coverings in the workplace by companies and employers should also be considered as part of the coronavirus risk assessment. We’ve already been told that there will be no need for face masks in school classrooms from September.
Wells moves to alert level zero
The Welsh government’s zero alert level coronavirus plan says: “We expect to gradually relax the legal requirements for wearing face coverings, although the requirements for public transport and in healthcare settings are likely to be longer.”
When we asked the Minister of Health, Elonid Morgan, what the next area would be where the mask requirement could be removed next, she said it would be indoor public spaces, saying: “Some of the things I think we’ll look at are kind of big, open to public places, so things like museums and things Like that where you know there’s a lot of air circulating, which is a lot easier, so I guess that’s where we’ll look at next.”
While nearly all restrictions are lifted below the zero alert level, there will still be rules and expectations around social distancing, self-isolation and international travel. All the things I still can’t do can be found here.
