Former Great British Bake Off winner John White will become one half of the first same-sex male duo in hardcore history when the dance begins in the fall, following in the footsteps of Olympic boxer Nicola Adams, who danced with Katia Jones in the 2020 series. When sharing the news with Matt Lucas on BBC Radio 2, the baker said it was “an honor” to take on the lead role. “When they asked me if I’d be interested, I just raised their hand because I thought… doing it and representing the LGBTQ+ community is one thing – but also just seeing two men or two women dance together, it’s not necessarily about sex, it’s just about intimacy and respect. Lucas said. “I’m so excited,” he said, adding, “I’m really, really nervous. I’m not going to lie, I’m actually shaking inside.
