But Newcastle in particular has seen a much slower turnout than hits and still has by far the worst record in our region, according to the latest figures.

This is how different parts of our region compare when the vaccine is rolled out in the adult population, with the correct numbers as of August 5:

Vaccines are now also offered to those aged 16 to 17.

In Newcastle, three reception clinics for newly qualified young people to get a jab have been set up over the coming days.

It will take place at Vertu Motors Arena in the Newcastle Eagles from 10am-4pm on Saturday (August 7), 2pm-6pm on Wednesday (August 11), and 12pm-4pm on Thursday (August 12).

There will be a special push over the coming weeks to reach unvaccinated young people, men of working age and those who have missed vaccination appointments because they have been isolated or tested positive for the virus, South Tyneside Director of Public Health Tom Hall said Thursday. .

The “enhanced response” that the government has provided to the Northeast since late July does not include any additional supplies of Covid tests or vaccines, after it was determined there were no shortages.

Instead, Mr. Hall said, the intent was to reverse the “slowdown” in the number of people coming forward to accept a jab offer by sending reinforced street teams to speak to people directly.
