Solskjaer explains Manchester United’s lineup against Everton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says strength will be key for Manchester United as they prepare for the last exercise ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

United play their last pre-season game when they host Premier League rivals Everton on Saturday at lunchtime.

Solskjaer set a strong squad for the final friendly match with David de Gea, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes giving the opening minutes of the season finale.

United are viewing the match as an important rehearsal before their opening league game against Leeds in a week, and Solskjaer wants his players to prove why they are in competitive matches.

“It’s (very) very important,” he told MUTV.

“We lost the game to Preston under those circumstances that were not under our control. So it’s important for them to get the power of the match. But most of them played not too long ago, so they have to be ready.”

When asked what he would like to see from his side in the last friendly, Solskjaer emphasized the need for “intensity” before facing Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

He added, “You want to see a good performance next week in a good mood and good confidence, intensity is important today. We are going to make some changes because we need people to be ready for the coming weekend.”

“As we saw with Jesse (Lingard) he was going to be a starting player today for sure and he will be out so we need as many as possible.”
