Manchester United fans excel as Mason Greenwood scores his first pre-season goal against Everton

Many Manchester United fans were reacting to Mason Greenwood’s first pre-season goal that gave United the lead against Everton at Old Trafford this lunchtime.

Less than eight minutes into the clock before Manchester United’s final friendly game before the start of next Saturday’s Premier League opener against Leeds United, Greenwood blasted off amid a defensive mix between Tows goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and left back Lucas Digne.

The latter sent the ball to his teammate between the sticks, but Pickford couldn’t help but fumble in Greenwood’s way, who dropped the ball into the penalty area with his stomach before slashing it softly into the empty net with his right foot.

Even though the nets were empty, Greenwood kept his cool and calmly tucked the ball away to score his first goal since United’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in May.

Although he was always expected to score from where he had the chance, some United supporters were interacting on social media.

As you can see from the messages displayed above, there is a real sense of excitement regarding Greenwood’s future, with one fan directing him to become a regular source for United’s goals this season.

Greenwood, who will turn 20 in less than two months, scored 12 goals in all competitions last season and will undoubtedly be determined to improve that number this time around.

Since Greenwood scored the first goal, United doubled their advantage through Harry Maguire and then scored a third through Bruno Fernandes

At the time of writing, the score is 3-0 in favor of the Reds.
