Callum, of Runcorn, was initially named locally and has since been confirmed by Cheshire Police.

Cheshire Police has appealed for information about the incident and urged members of the public to call 101, citing IML 1054649.

Police confirmed that the accident was close to where the Mersey Gateway Bridge passes in the sky.

“Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances but at this point officers believe he may have had a collision a short time ago.
