Pep Guardiola has no fears of FFP

Manchester City suffered a disappointing rise in their new career on Saturday as they were overtaken by Leicester City in the Community Shield match at Wembley.

The result will be quickly forgotten for the match that saw Jack Grealish sign the record £100m mark for the first time with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Saturday’s performance highlighted City’s lack of options in the final third with only one recognized striker remaining at the club – Gabriel Jesus.

It is likely that there will be at least one striker at the club this month while more players are also expected at City.

We take a look at the biggest transfer stories emerging from the blue side of Manchester.

Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham is still in the balance

Manchester City are intensifying their quest for Tottenham captain Harry Kane with journalist Ian McGarry claiming “on personal terms agreed” between the two parties.

The England captain is back at training at Tottenham – but must self-isolate for five days due to quarantine rules – after not informing the club earlier this week.

The 28-year-old is said to be eager to exit the north London club this summer with his favorite City side to bring down the striker but could struggle to agree with Spurs.

McGarry claimed on the Transfer Window podcast: “Harry Kane is clearly still an ongoing project.

“But our information in the transfer window podcast is that Kane has actually agreed personal terms with City and his representatives, and that they are simply waiting for Daniel Levy to agree to the fee.

“And of course Tottenham are investing themselves aggressively in new players as well, which kind of indicates that they already know Kane is leaving and that they are effectively strengthening their squad based on the money coming in.”

Bernardo Silva is expected to leave Manchester City this summer.

Getty, Bernardo to Arsenal?

Bernardo Silva appears likely to leave Manchester City this summer with Pep Guardiola confirming the player is keen on the move.

La Liga was said to be the most likely destination for the Portugal international, with Atlético Madrid said to be among the clubs interested in his signature.

However, Silva may remain in the Premier League, with Arsenal reportedly keen on the player as an alternative to signing James Madison or Martin Odegaard.

Jack Grealish’s response to Manchester United’s transfer attempts and Real Madrid Arsenal are exploring the transfer of Bernardo Silva as a replacement for James Madison.

The club’s pursuit of Maddison has been frustrated by the player’s rating while Real Madrid are unlikely to let Odegaard out this summer.

Silva – who Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta worked with at City – is now on Arsenal’s radar as he can provide that creative spark in the final third.

City will be keen to find a destination for the former Monaco star – who arrived at the federation four years ago – to clear his pay bill to reinvest in the team.

Manchester City’s apparent withdrawal from their pursuit of Erling Haaland has boosted Real Madrid’s hopes of signing the player, according to the Spanish press.

Madrid-based news outlet Diario AS is quoted by Sport Witness as saying that Los Blancos have been encouraged by City and Chelsea who have diverted their attention away from the Borussia Dortmund striker – which appears to boost their future hopes of a deal.

Agent Mino Raiola allegedly wanted to set up an auction of his prized assets, which were in demand by several top clubs across European football.

City would prefer a move for Harry Kane as Chelsea prepare to re-sign Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, leaving the way for Haaland – who is expected to move next summer – to move elsewhere.
