A drunk driver who left his mother and daughter with devastating injuries in a horrific 60 mph crash struck his middle finger as he walked free from court.

Tattooist Scott Rowe, 39, pushed his Mercedes CLA220 into an Audi after he was “bored” of traveling behind another car that was adhering to the 30-mph speed limit.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the horrific accident in Bedworth, Warwickshire, on July 13 last year.

Rowe escaped unharmed but the Audi driver, Chelsea Sedwill, 19, and her mother, Kelly Meredo, 39, were trapped in the wreck for two hours.

Chelsea fractured his left knee, ankle and toes, as well as a ligament injury, and was confined to a wheelchair for seven weeks after the accident.

Her mother had a pelvic tear, a dislocated right knee, and severe bruising to the shoulder.

Rowe was overtaking a car traveling at 30 mph when he collided with Miss Sedwill and her mother.

The court heard that Ms. Sedwill was forced to give up her work with the children as a result of her injuries.

Roe pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol at Warwick Crown Court.

Prosecutor Sally Kearns said: “It was sunset and it was raining, and the driver of the car he was driving in the 30mph zone estimated he was traveling at least 60mph.

Rowe didn’t pull out and crashed head-on at an Audi that’s rotating around 180 degrees.

The hood of the Audi, which ended up on the edge of the lawn, was smashed, and Miss Sedwill and her mother were trapped inside.

“Emergency services attended and found Miss Sedwill and Mrs. Meredo trapped and in excruciating pain, and Miss Sedwill remained trapped for two hours before being discharged and taken to hospital.”

Roe, who was previously convicted twice of driving under the influence, was taken to hospital where a blood test showed he exceeded the legal alcohol limit.

He told police he was driving a car traveling at 20 mph, and was “bored of waiting” behind it, so he overtook but lost control.

Defender Andrew Wilkins said: “It’s an issue where a series of things go wrong.

“It all starts to go wrong when he makes the decision to drive after drinking.

“Once he does that, then, perhaps as a result, he makes a decision to overtake a very slow-moving vehicle to his liking, and he does it quickly.

“Master Rou is terrified of the consequences of his actions.”

He was given a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £535 and banned from driving for four years.

Francesca Levitt, who sentenced him on Friday, said: “This was a very dangerous maneuver that was carried out in the shortest of moments, and there is no doubt that the amount of alcohol you ingested clouded your judgment.

“Your speed was excessive, it is estimated that it was twice the speed specified in that area.

“What followed was a consequence of your decision to overtake when it was obvious that doing so was dangerous, and the injuries to Miss Sedwill and her mother were very serious.

“I have to weigh whether the crimes are really so serious that only imprisonment is justified.

“I am only convinced that I can hold this sentence on hold.”

The frenzy of a drunken woman’s inn left paramedics terrified that a Moments of Horror HIV mechanic was killed in a 70 mph police chase after being hit by a truck.
