A royal expert said the rift between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with the royal family was “too big for Princess Eugenie to heal despite hopes she can bring peace”.
It was speculated this week that Eugenie, 31, could help build bridges between the Duke of Sussex and his family.

She remains an ally to Harry – after upsetting other members of his family because of Megxit and public outbursts.
She is also known to be particularly close to her grandmother the Queen.
But royal author Phil Dampier believes the ongoing tensions between Harry and his family are too great, and Eugenie’s influence is unlikely to have any effect.
“Personally, I don’t think there’s much Eugenie can do at the moment to heal the rift,” Dampier told The Sun Online.
“I think the rift is too deep to play a major role in healing it.”
Meghan and Harry sent the royal family into crisis mode with Oprah’s surprise interview in March, while Harry has continued to keep them on the brink of collapse ever since.
Mr Dampier believes that any chance of the family being reunited again soon remains slim.

“I don’t think there is much chance of reconciliation between anyone at the moment and I wouldn’t have thought Eugenie would be in a position to [help] – Even though she’s a girlfriend [Meghan and Harry],” He said.
It is understood that Eugenie is closer to Harry than her sister, Beatrice, and may have been the one who introduced him to Meghan.
But any steps to help the family reach a positive future are likely to be supported by Beatrice, who celebrates her 33rd birthday today.
“I’m sure Beatrice would support any moves by Eugenie to try to build bridges and have a dialogue between William and Harry,” Dampier said.
“I think they’d be a little worried about some of the things that were said but they’re clearly a little more sympathetic than some of the older royals.”

It comes after The Sun revealed how Harry is set to ask Eugenie for help with his explosive memoir due to be published next year with famed ghost writer JR Moringer.
Mohringer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning 56-year-old, is expected to bypass official channels and contact the Duke’s confidant, like Eugenie, through Harry.
Dampier said he’s sure Harry “would want to pick her brains for the book” and it’s possible that it’s Beatrice, too.
“I hope you try to use this as an opportunity to try to bring people together,” he said.

Her husband, Jack Brooksbank, 35, is also close to the Duchess.
The couple, who have a six-month-old son, got the talent of their former Sussex home, Frogmore Cottage, with Harry choosing to stay with them there when he returns to the UK this year.
