Liverpool are in ‘preliminary talks’ with the Premier League club as Jurgen Klopp has accepted the transfer

[ad_1]

Welcome to the Liverpool.com media watch piece. Probably not the first, we’ve definitely done transfer tours before, European tours, so I think in some ways it’s not new at all. Anyway, we thought we’d go into the world of football in a broad and round way for you and enjoy some of the stories and captions that go into the daily rounds.

Red sweat on Robertson

Andy Robertson will have his ankle checked today to determine the severity of the injury he sustained at Anfield last night against Athletic Bilbao.

“Obviously we don’t know at the moment how serious it is,” Jürgen Klopp said after the match. “It was very painful and that’s why Andy came out. I might have seen him on the TV pictures better than I did, but he got the ball, the ball in front of his foot, [and] Ankle sprained.

“The pain has already settled down, but we can’t say anything else without further evaluation tomorrow. He should get an examination and then we’ll know more.”

Robertson also took to social media to provide an update: “Your support today was great! Thank you for all your messages, I’m positive but let’s see what tomorrow brings!”

Barcelona stop Messi transfer?

That’s not over yet, though, despite PSG winning the race for Lionel Messi. Lawyers from FC Barcelona have taken part in the claim that he should not be able to move to Paris if he cannot remain in Catalonia.

“On behalf of FC Barcelona’s partners, my company has prepared a complaint to the European Commission and requests for temporary suspension before the civil and administrative courts of France to prevent Paris Saint-Germain from contracting Lionel Messi,” a statement from Juan Branco read.

“Paris Saint-Germain’s ratios in terms of “financial fair play” are worse than that of Barcelona. In 2019-2020, the ratio of salary to income in PSG was 99%, while that of Barcelona was 54%, at the same time, the difference increased.

“It is inconceivable that ‘financial fair play’ exacerbates football’s drift, exploits football’s sovereign powers, and distorts competitions.”

Oxlade Chamberlain wanted

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is wanted from Southampton on loan, according to TalkSPORT.

After Danny Ings lost to Aston Villa, Ralph Hasenhuttl would like to strengthen his ranks, but a temporary move for Oxlade-Chamberlain appears unlikely.

If Liverpool were to lose it this summer, surely it would be a permanent deal?

With two years left on his contract, he needs to either get an extension or move on. The loan deal does not appear to be beneficial to anyone.

Klopp accepts the transfer

The Liverpool boss admits the Reds will move on before the window closes if the right player is available, although he insists he is happy with his current squad.

Speaking after Liverpool’s draw with Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, Klopp said: “I am very happy with the team, but that does not mean we are not looking at the market.

“We have a great squad and there may be something going on until the end of the transfer window, but I can’t say anything about that at the moment.”

He also has new options like Harvey Elliott, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, and was keen to point that out as well.

Origi Talks

West Ham United have had “initial talks” with Liverpool in favor of Divock Origi, according to Football Insider.

They say a wage of around £15m would be enough to tempt Liverpool to sell and that Hammers are keen to secure a deal over the streak.

Origi has talent, but he may not even be in the Reds’ starting line-up tonight, although Liverpool also played yesterday.

This shows how far the Belgian player’s ranking has fallen under Klopp’s leadership, as Xherdan Shaqiri, Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino are expected to be the front line tonight, after Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane played last night.

Agreed on Arsenal’s fee

Newcastle United have agreed to pay £22m for Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock, who was on loan at St James’ Park last season.

That takes into account why Liverpool may not find the perfect player for the right price this summer – even after Covid, prices still appear to be hugely inflated.

Willock is a very good player and did well at Newcastle last season, but £22m for the 21-year-old seems a bit exaggerated.
