The cause of death of a 15-year-old girl, was killed in Ty Mawr Holiday Park Hear in the investigation

An investigation has been opened into the death of a 15-year-old girl who died in a caravan park in North Wales.

Amanda Elizabeth Selby, of Penrith Street in Ashton-under Lane, Greater Manchester, was murdered on Saturday, July 31.

She was vacationing with her family at Tŷ Mawr Holiday Park in Twain where she was pronounced dead at 4.15pm.

Her body was officially identified by her father, Anthony Selby, and John Gittens, the North Wales East and Central North Wales coroner was heard at Ruthen County Hall today (9 August).

Dr. Brian Rodgers performed an autopsy and a provisional cause of death was provided by asphyxia due to neck compression, external airway obstruction and crush asphyxia.

The investigation has been postponed to an unspecified date pending further investigation.

Her 19-year-old brother Matthew Selby, of Windermere Crescent, Ashton-under Lane, Greater Manchester, has been charged with her murder.

He appeared before the Crown Court on Wednesday. No arguments have been made and a provisional trial date has been set for February 28, 2022.

The family paid tribute to the 15-year-old in a statement issued the same day, which read: “Amanda was a loving daughter and granddaughter – she was caring, thoughtful, loved to help others and loved very much.

“We will sadly miss her.”

Druelsden Academy at Amanda High School also paid tribute to the teen: “Our school is saddened to receive the tragic news that one of our students, Amanda Selby in Grade 10, has lost her life while on vacation with her family in Wales.

“Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with Amanda’s family at a very difficult time.

“Our school family has been devastated by this horrific news.

“Amanda was a beautiful student and she will be sorely missed by the students and staff.
