The ordeal is the sixth fire attack that Charlotte McKenna, partner John Williams and their six children have suffered in the past two weeks. Charlotte, 36, claims the police “did nothing” about any of the episodes, the most recent of which was related to the canine chaos that occurred Friday morning.

Charlotte, of Middlesbrough, Teesside, fears that she or a member of her family may be killed if attacks escalate.

Speaking to Teesside Live today, the mum said: “Posting the dog’s mess through the door this morning was the last straw for me.

“Now we’ve come to the point where I’m now thinking what will it take the police to do something about it?

“Will it take me and my partner to get seriously hurt or one or both of us get killed in a fire?

“All I get when I call the police is ‘We’re doing our best.'”

“We have come to the end of our rope now and are terrified at the thought of how it will end.

“I haven’t slept in weeks and John has learning difficulties and mental health issues.

“It’s gotten to the point where I have to hold him until he goes to sleep and we are now keeping our bedroom door closed at night.”

Charlotte was preparing a cup of tea when she heard a bang on Friday. The post exploded and set her back door on fire.

Arson has occurred prior to this on her clothesline, and in other incidents, chairs and other garden furniture have been set on fire.

Cleveland police say they have been in contact with Charlotte and John, 31, and they have given precautionary advice.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police recently received reports of criminal damage and arson incidents at this address.

He added, “These include small fires that were lit outside her home on August 1, the evening of Thursday August 5 and the morning of Friday August 6.

“Also on August 6, just before midday, we received a tip-off that a flaming flyer disseminated via an anti-arson message box was left open at the address.

“Fortunately, the homeowner put out the fire and no damage was done.”

The spokesman added that police attended the speech on Friday and officers continue to contact the victim and provide precautionary advice.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police, citing reference 131147.
