Gary Wolff floats wild theory on WWE and AEW

Gary Wolfe, former ECW TV and Tag Team Champion “Pitbull #1,” was on today’s episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast. Wrestling Inc’s managing editor Nick Houseman asked Wolff if he’s still keeping up with pro wrestling, and Wolfe responded with wild theory about WWE and AEW.

“I watch WWE here and there. Wolf admitted that I am confused about how to release so many people. “I just don’t get it. I’ll give you an example. I think Vince McMahon might own AEW. This is just my opinion. Why are his guys rolling over there (AEW)? I mean, I know Paul [Wight].

“I knew Paul before he became a wrestler. I know Vince loves him and another guy for Mark Henry. What’s going on here? He’s getting rid of all the big guys, it doesn’t make sense. I’m starting to think there’s a connection between Vince McMahon and Tony Khan and AEW.”

Houseman referred to Vince McMahon’s relationship with Paul Heyman and ECW in the 1990s. Wolf remembered how he and other talents in ECW saw this relationship develop.

“At the time, we knew we were swinging and swinging, and we were giving Vince a run for his money, but then things started looking different,” Wolff said. “Things weren’t right, and here we really started thinking, What’s going on? My partner and I, we were leaving. Paul already got our two weeks’ notice. We were going to WCW.”

However, Pitbulls did not make the jump to WCW. Wolf explained why this is happening and what WCW’s plans are for them.

“We stayed as long as we could for ECW, but then when the checks got worse with this issue and this issue, we gave him two weeks’ notice. [Eric] Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, Terry Taylor, Raven, and Kevin Sullivan all called me at once on one conference call, and they’re like, ‘We want to bring you guys to WCW. You fight the Steiners and get the belts. We’re like, “Okay, no problem.” I have to go.

“Vince, not only did he buy ECW, he bought WCW,” Wolff noted. “So I couldn’t sign my contract because they froze everything. Bischoff told me, ‘If I signed you last week, he would have to pay you, but I can’t sign any new talent. No new talent.’”
