Former Premier League duo Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer have agreed a “perfect” move for Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, with the transfer expiration approaching.

Lukaku, 28, is set to sign an initial five-year contract in west London ahead of his proposed return to the club he has an “unfinished business” with.

football.london understands that a £97.5m deal has been agreed between Marina Granovskaya and the Inter Milan board, as Thomas Tuchel approaches his much-needed ‘world-class’ striker before he is charged with the Premier League title next season.

All that is left to complete the deal are the final medical examinations, with preliminary examinations to be completed in Italy before an official announcement from the club.

All-time Premier League top scorer Alan Shearer has handed down his verdict on the 2020/21 Serie A Player of the Year winner during the 2018 World Cup campaign.

Eden Hazard’s international teammate starred in the 2-1 quarter-final win over Brazil, as the striker’s performance helped the Red Devils win the occasion – despite neither scoring.

Lukaku received high praise from Shearer, who discussed Lukaku’s dominance in the BBC studio.

“I was very impressed with him. Speed, power, touch, strength, technique; he brought people into the game and he played that role so well because he was asked to take on a different role – to pull back a little bit to create space for [Eden] danger or [Kevin] “De Bruyne,” Scherer said.

“You could tell four or five minutes later when the ball got to him that you thought, ‘He’s in a mood tonight.’ I think that’s one of the best 45 minutes we’ve seen in Lukaku.

“Once he’s in that arena in front of you, you can’t catch him because he’s so fast and strong. All he needs is a goal and you have a perfect performance in center attack.”
