Josh Sheehan scored in Bolton’s 3-3 draw with MK Dons on Saturday

Bolton reached the second round of the Carabao Cup after defeating the championship team Barnsley on penalties after a goalless draw.

After eight successful kicks, Taikes striker Devante Cole’s effort was saved by Joel Dixon and Josh Sheehan scored the winning goal for League One.

The visitors had better chances in the first half but Victor Adeboyego sent his effort off the post when he was in a good position to score.

Bolton almost won the ball in the last minute when Sheehan forced a save from Jack Walton but Amadou Bakayoko could only fire the rebound over the crossbar.
