Time is running out for Arsenal to strengthen its first team even more.
But while the summer transfer window closes in just under three weeks, there is another deadline that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and coach Edu will let him know before the start of the new Premier League season.
That is the player registration deadline, something that could affect the north London side should they sign their fourth in the coming hours.
For now, Arsenal’s three summer signings of Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lukunga and Ben White will qualify for their first competitive match against newly promoted Brentford on Friday night.

Although there is still a chance of a fourth Arsenal player in west London if Edu can seal another deal in record time.
Arsenal are being linked with moves for the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, James Madison, Martin Odegaard, Lautaro Martinez and Tammy Abraham to name a few.
Now, it seems unlikely that any of the aforementioned players will join Arsenal before the trip to Brentford, but if, say, the Madison deal can be agreed, he’ll stand a chance – albeit slim – of making his debut against the Bees.
However, only on one condition.
According to Premier League regulations, Arsenal will have to register the 24-year-old by 12pm on Thursday 12 August to be available for selection.
The statement reads: “Subject to the provisions of Rule V.1, the deadline for receipt by the Board of all duly completed documents required under these Rules to activate a player’s registration is 12 noon on the last business day before the date of the first league match for which the club intends to submit request that he play in it, except that an ITC and proof of eligibility to take up a position in the UK (in both cases if applicable) may be submitted thereafter (but shall be) provided the player is eligible to play for a club in a league match).
As reported by football.london last month, Arteta is a fan of Madison as he looks to inject his team with some much-needed creativity, but negotiations between Arsenal and Leicester City are understood to be ‘too slow’ and ‘like a game’. Chess.
The good news for the Gunners is that Maddison is keen on a move to north London, but the sticking point regarding the deal is the Foxes’ demands for at least £60m.
As a result, Edu is exploring cheaper options in the market in case the deal cannot be completed before the August 31 deadline.
