The 67-year-old was remembering his Bantu days with Hollywood star Mickey Rooney shortly after his marriage to Amanda, 50, ended in 2002.

Before each show, the theater in Sunderland played Christmas carols, including Frank Sinatra’s Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

Lis said, “Mickey would be so angry, of course, Frank Sinatra ran off with Ava Gardner [Mickey’s wife].

“I would have had to listen to Bob The Builder every night.”

Neil is best known for voicing the children’s television merchant for 14 years, recording two singles in the process.

Amanda has previously described the fallout from her relationship with Nell as the darkest time of her life.

She told The Mail, “I brought it on myself, I appreciate it, but nothing is ever going to be bad again. It was a very dark time. It got to the point where I could hardly breathe.”

“He proved to me that he was my savior. Ironically. So the person I hurt the most in the world was the one who was there for me.”

The former couple, who had an age gap of 18 years, met while performing on The Sound of Music in 1993.

Liz went on to marry Claire Nicholson in 2009, while Amanda married Chris Hughes in 2008 and had two daughters with her, Lexi, 15, and Holly, nine.
