Lukaku returns to Chelsea to prove people wrong

Jose Mourinho has reportedly phoned Tammy Abraham to personally persuade him to join Roma as he appears set to leave Chelsea this summer.

The Serie A side have secured an offer of £34m for the England player, but the player has yet to agree personal terms with the Italians.

Arsenal has also emerged as a potential landing site for the striker with the north London club set to meet his £4m-a-year wage requirement, but Arsenal have yet to agree on a price.

Abraham now has to take it when he considers a move abroad, but his preferred destination is allegedly Arsenal as he wants to stay in the Premier League.

Roma offered him a contract worth £3 million a year which is less than the £4 million he is asking for.

Chelsea would rather sell Abraham to Roma than join their rivals in London.

The 23-year-old was not well-liked at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel despite being a regular under Frank Lampard before he was sacked midway through last season. Abraham finished the season as Chelsea’s joint top scorer with 12 goals.

Abraham traveled with Chelsea’s squad for the Super Cup match in Belfast on Wednesday night against Villarreal, but the impending arrival of Romelu Lukaku is set to spell the end for the striker at the club.

The Belgium international is set to complete his £97.5m deal from Inter Milan this week. Lukaku passed his medical treatment in Italy before traveling to London to finalize his deal with the Blues.
