WhatsApp has made a massive change to its platform for every UK user, it confirmed.

The widely used messaging service, which is one of the most popular apps in the world and the most used messaging platform, has unleashed a brand new update.

Users now have the opportunity to transfer their chat history, confirmed WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook and created by Mark Zuckerberg.

Users can now switch between Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS mobile operating systems.

“Your WhatsApp messages belong to you. That is why they are stored on your phone by default, and are not accessible in the cloud like many other messaging services,” said Sandeep Parochori, WhatsApp Product Manager.

“We are excited for the first time to make it easier for people to safely transfer their WhatsApp history from one operating system to another.

“This has been one of the most requested features from users for years and we’ve worked with operating systems and hardware manufacturers to solve it.”

The Facebook-owned messaging service said the feature has been one of the most requested features from its user base and will be rolling out for Android debut in Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3.

The feature will then become available to broader Samsung devices running Android 10 or higher in the coming weeks, WhatsApp confirmed.

The news comes on an exciting day for Samsung fans.

Samsung has launched two new foldable phones in a bid to bring premium devices into the mainstream for the first time.
