Six feared dead in Plymouth mass shooting – full police statement

Six people are feared killed in a mass shooting in Plymouth this evening.

Gunshots were heard in the Keham area of ​​the city shortly after 6 pm.

Police have confirmed a “several death toll” and declared a serious incident, with a major response in place overnight, Plymouth Live reports.

A source told the Palestinian News Agency that up to six people were killed in the incident.

One witness said: “First there was screaming, followed by gunshots – three, and maybe four at first.

“This was when the shooter kicked in the door of a house and started shooting indiscriminately… He ran out of the house shooting as he ran and shot a few people in Liner Park out of the way.”

Devon and Cornwall police have not yet confirmed the number of casualties or the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a serious shooting incident on Piddick Drive, in the Keham area of ​​Plymouth at approximately 6.10pm today. [Thursday 12 August].

Officers and paramedics attended.

“A number of deaths have occurred at the scene and many other victims are receiving treatment.

“A serious accident has been announced.

“The area has been cordoned off and the police believe the situation has been contained.

“Roads are closed, so please avoid the area.

“We appeal to the public not to speculate or share photos of the scene on social media or anywhere else.
