Plymouth shooting: name of gunman suspected of killing five | Plymouth

A man suspected of killing five people, including a child, before shooting himself in Plymouth has been named Jake Davison.

Devon and Cornwall police said two women and two men died at the scene in the city’s Keham area, along with another man believed to be the culprit.

Another woman at the scene was treated for gunshot wounds and later died in hospital. One member of parliament said one of the victims was a child under the age of 10.

The force said that the closest relatives have been informed and that it is not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack, which it confirmed is not related to terrorism.

Several local sources reported that Davison was the suspect in his shooting. Social media pages suggest he worked for Babcock International, which has a large presence near the city at the Devonport shipyards.

Social media posts from around 2018 also indicate that he was a fan of former US President Donald Trump and a supporter of the British Libertarian Party. He also recently shared his struggles staying fit and his difficulties using weights to stay in shape.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, tweeted: “My thoughts are with the friends and families of those who lost their lives and with all those affected by the tragic accident in Plymouth last night. I thank the emergency services for their response.”

Labor MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, Luke Pollard, said more people were being treated for their injuries in hospital, and tweeted: “I was very disappointed that one of the people killed in the #keyham shooting was a child under ten years old. “

Emergency services were called to Biddick Drive in the City’s Keyham area, where the perpetrator is understood to have lived, shortly after 6pm on Thursday. Witnesses described hearing gunshots and one said she saw a man “randomly” start shooting at people.

Devon and Cornwall police said in a statement early Friday that two women and two men had died at the scene.

Another man believed to be the culprit also died at the scene. It is believed that they all died of gunshot wounds. Another woman treated at the scene died of gunshot wounds shortly thereafter in hospital.

“All of the deceased’s closest relatives have been located and notified by Devon and Cornwall Police officers.” The force said the shooting had nothing to do with terrorism.

They added: “The area has been cordoned off and the police are not looking for anyone else.”

He urged the public with mobile phone footage of the “direct consequences” not to post it on social media and to “respect those families who lost loved ones this evening”.

One witness, who lives near Piddick Drive and gave her the name Sharon, told the BBC: “First there was screaming, followed by gunshots – three, maybe four at first.

“This was when the shooter kicked in the door of a house and started shooting indiscriminately… He ran out of the house shooting as he ran and shot a few people in Liner Park out of the way.”

Robert Pinkerton told the BBC he walked around a corner and “hit a guy with a gun”.

Pollard wrote on Twitter that police had confirmed six deaths, adding that “more people are being treated for their injuries in hospital.” He said, “Just indescribably awful. My condolences and thoughts are with the families.”

In a video posted to Twitter, Pollard said Ford Primary School and St Mark’s Church on Cambridge Road in Keham will open from 9am on Friday, and he will attend with police and local council members to support the community.

He said time and space were needed to process what had happened, but that “this would be a safe place for the community to come together.”

The Southwest Ambulance Service said it was called shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday and responded with a large number of resources, including hazardous area response teams, multiple ambulances, an air ambulance, several doctors and paramedics.
