Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clarifies Jesse Lingard’s plans amid renewed transfer speculation over West Ham transfers

Darren Randolph has sparked speculation that West Ham may make a move to bring Jesse Lingard back to the club after posting it on social media.

Lingard had undoubted success on loan at the London Stadium last season and faces stiff competition for places if he stays at Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s squad is full of international players and only got stronger over the summer with the arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United racked up impressive 5-1 victories over Leeds United on Saturday with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes the stars of the show.

Despite the shape of Fernandes – the man most likely to keep Lingard out of Manchester United – former Solskjaer Hammer opted to push his Portuguese star for a place in the starting line-up.

The Norwegian was full of praise for both Pogba and Fernandes, but found time to remind Manchester United fans of Lingard’s quality:

“Don’t forget Jesse Lingard who reinvented himself and brought back the man we know has quality,” Solskjaer said. “He’ll play a big role, too.”

Lingard’s return to his West Ham squad saw the 28-year-old make his way back into England’s first squad for Euro 2020, and fans will welcome him back at the London Stadium and it looks like players.

After West Ham’s 4-2 win over Newcastle’s goalkeeper, Randolph took to Instagram to encourage Lingard to return to the Hammers.

Randolph wrote: “JesseLingard See you soon at Rush Green for training! You know you want it.”

The goalkeeper’s post was filled with prayer and winking emojis that suggested he was sent with more hope than expectations, but it clearly shows that Lingard was a man of fame among the Hammers and would welcome him again.

Prior to the start of the season, David Moyes was asked about a possible move for Lingard but the manager refused to indulge in the situation.

“Well, you’re talking about a Manchester United player, not a West Ham player,” he said.

“So you have to ask Ollie [Gunnar Solskjaer] about it. I can only talk to you about the West Ham players.”
