Plymouth: Crowds vigil in honor of shooting victims

A man who survived the mass shooting in Plymouth is reported to have narrowly escaped a terrorist massacre on a beach in Tunisia six years ago.

Ben Parsonage, 33, and his mother, Michelle, 53, were “seriously” injured when gunman Jake Davison shot them in the Kham area of Plymouth last Thursday.

Davison, 22, killed five other people, including his mother, a three-year-old girl, and her father, before shooting himself and taking his own life as police approached.

It is believed to have been radicalized by the incel movement although the horrific frenzy has not been classified as a terrorist attack.

Parsonage, the former young boxer, was shot in the stomach but was later released from hospital after undergoing surgery.

Her son Jordan wrote on Facebook that his mother was told she would need surgery on her arm before being released.

Mr. Parsonage and his mother were the only survivors of the 12-minute rampage.

It turns out that Mr. Parsonage survived the June 2015 terrorist attack in Tunisia, when gunman Seifeddine Rezgui opened fire on foreign vacationers on a Sousse beach, the Daily Mail reports.

The Briton and his two sons, Oliver and Lucas, were on the beach when Rizki, armed with a Kalashnikov, killed 38 people, including 30 British citizens.

Nearly 40 people were injured, including 26 Britons.

As the attack took place, Mr. Parsonage rushed to his hotel where his partner and mother of his two children, Gemma Buck, 30, were reportedly relaxing by the pool.

Britons silent to remember Plymouth shooting As five bells ring for five victims, policeman, 39, was found dead with his son, 3, ‘come home early from a family holiday’

Miss Bock said Mr Parsonage was in a “panic” after the children were evacuated from the beach.

At the time of the attack on Tunis, she said: “My reaction was calm at first, but I got scared and shivered as the event started.

“We were so shocked, we couldn’t believe what we heard and saw. I was so scared, everyone in the hotel was scared.

“No one was able to board the flight back home right away, it’s all very slow progress.”

The family spent days locked up in the hotel complex before they were allowed to return home to the UK.

Mr. Parsonage was visiting his mother when the shooting occurred in Plymouth shortly after 6pm on Thursday.

Jake Davison, 22, killed five people and wounded two before he committed suicide

Mrs. Parsonage lived near Davison’s mother, Maxine, 51, who was the first person to be murdered.

Davison roamed the streets killing his father Lee Martin, 43, his three-year-old daughter Sophie, dog park Stephen Washington, 59, and Kate Shepherd, 66, who were shot outside a hair salon.

About 200 people gathered for a minute of silence outside the Guildhall Building in downtown Plymouth as city residents continued to remember the victims on Monday.

Questions are still growing about how Davison, who committed suicide after a shooting spree, was able to obtain a firearms license.

A boy, 8, dumped 100 feet from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern, finally returns to school every new gun license for police review in the wake of the Plymouth shooting tragedy.
