Bob Dylan was accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the 1960s.

A lawsuit alleged that the 80-year-old singer-songwriter befriended the girl and gave her drinks and drugs before sexually assaulting her over a period of six weeks in April and May 1965.

The child, identified in court documents as JC, is now a 68-year-old Connecticut resident seeking unspecified damages and a jury trial.

In the lawsuit filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court, Dylan was charged with assault, battery, false imprisonment, and causing mental disorders.

The lawsuit said that Dylan, whose real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, abused her in his apartment in New York’s Chelsea Hotel, using drugs, alcohol and threatening violence.

Dylan’s alleged actions were described in the lawsuit file as “predatory and unlawful sexual assault” committed “intentionally by him…without her consent.”

The lawsuit alleged that the girl suffered from “extreme psychological stress, anguish, humiliation, and embarrassment, along with economic losses,” adding that she “suffers from psychological scars and psychological damage to this day.”

Dylan’s representative denied the allegations, telling the New York Post: “This 56-year-old claim is false and will be vigorously defended.”

Dylan became a popular voice for protesting the Vietnam War and for the American civil rights movement thanks to songs including Blowin’ In The Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin’.

He has won a Grammy, an Oscar, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Nobel Prize for Literature.
