Shang-Chi Premiere confirms MCU’s return for [Spoiler]
Warning: There is a Shang-Chi secondary spoiler ahead of you!
During last night’s premiere of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, fans instantly recognized Ben Kingsley on the red carpet. Kingsley previously played a fake Mandarin, Trevor Slattery, in Iron Man 3. However, Shang-Chi introduces the “real” Mandarin, Wenwu (Tony Leung). Now, it looks like both Mandarins may be sharing the screen in Shang-Chi.
ComicBook reports that Marvel Studios has confirmed that Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor in Shang-Chi. Additionally, this appears to be in line with Trevor’s recent appearance in the short film, Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King.
In Iron Man 3, Trevor was an actor hired by Aldrich Killian to film Mandarin. In All Hail the King, Trevor’s exploits also made him a hero to his fellow inmates at Seagate Prison. However, it turns out that Jackson Norris, the reporter who was sent to interview Trevor, was a Ten Rings client. Jackson also told Trevor that his master, the Mandarin, was real; And that he was getting Trevor out of prison to face the wrath of Mandarin for stealing his name and reputation.
If Trevor returns to Shang-Chi, the Mandarin must not have killed him. But we’ll have to wait a few weeks before we know why Trevor is still alive.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will appear in theaters on Friday, September 3.
