A group of protesters known as “peaceful and sovereign” people claimed to have captured Edinburgh Castle.
The small group was seen at the teacher in a Facebook Live video on Tuesday afternoon, with Police Scotland confirming officers were still present hours later.
In the 13-minute video, a woman said the castle “belongs to the people” and that they are “reclaiming our strength”.
She adds that the Scottish people “lied to our whole lives” and that “the building belongs to us, we have reclaimed the castle” in an attempt “to restore the rule of law”.
Then another man said, “Betrayal has been going on for a long time now, we can’t just sit back and let everyone die under stupid legislation and fraudulent government tyranny, so let’s get it all back, not just the castle.”
Then the woman speaks again calling for “no more enslavement” and “the people and the Commonwealth will be free.”
She tells viewers that they will “frustrate everyone,” including the government, the courts, and “the crown comes down today.”
After another man said the group “returns us the people to power,” he adds: “We the people.”
The woman also claims that “corrupt, evil and diabolical pedophiles run this country” and that the Scots have been “like peasants for 800 years”.
As the police appeared, she shouted ‘Notice to Force’ and informed the officers that they were seizing the castle under Section 61 of the Magna Carta – ‘the only law in the land’ – which predates the Act of Union and never applied to Scotland.
The woman says she put Scotland’s chief of police, Constable Ian Livingston “informed” of their taking the castle.
An officer asks the woman for her name, and she says she is “not obligated” to do so, before identifying herself anyway.
Then the police officer asks: “How many people do you expect to come to Edinburgh Castle today to join your protest?”
When you tell him “This isn’t a protest, we’re actually taking it back” he replies, “Well, don’t worry.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently at Edinburgh Castle and interacting with a group of people who have gathered within the castle grounds.
