Google phone call recording on Pixels is available in these countries

It’s been nearly a year since Google announced that call recording will be possible on Android, as long as you have a compatible device and live in a country where it’s legal. The feature was launched first on Nokia phones and then Xiaomi phones, and later gained the ability to automatically record calls from unknown numbers. It’s now making its way into the Pixels, too.

Two guides mentioned that the call recording feature is now available to them on the Pixel (3 XL and 4A). One of the guides is located in India, but we are not sure about the second. Both are also using the beta version of the Google Phone app.

As far as we know, this is the first time that the ability to record calls on Pixels has been shown without any modifications or hacks. But given how geographically restricted the feature is, as well as its alternative server-side component, we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it’s been rolling out for a while now. It also appears to be appearing on OnePlus phones, although we’re not sure if this is new or not.

If you live in a country where call recording is legal and you have a Pixel, you can sign up for the trial version or make sure you are running at least version 68.0.388241074 (APK Mirror). That should increase your odds of seeing it on your phone.
