Chris Sutton believes Mason Greenwood can sack Manchester United to glory in the Premier League this season.
England international Greenwood scored in United’s 5-1 win over Leeds on the opening weekend of the new season.
The 19-year-old suffered a frustrating season last season – scoring just seven goals in the Premier League – but Sutton believes he could be “like a new player” for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
Sutton initially thought Manchester United would fall short in pursuit of the Premier League title, but said that could change if Greenwood thrives.
“Of course, there was Paul Pogba and his assistants, but Mason Greenwood as a central striker… I thought his performance was exceptional.
When you look back on last season, it was a write-off for him.
“I know he finished the season well, but what he did the previous season when he came on the scene, I think everyone expected last season to be so huge for him and him to deliver such a high level.

“It’s like having a new player for Manchester United this season. I don’t want to go too early with him, but before the start of the season you thought it would be like that. [Edinson] Cavani – They will have to rely on Cavani.
“But his performance against Leeds was good where you were thinking, could Ole really think before kicking the ball this season… Greenwood, can I count on him like Cavani?
I didn’t think before kicking the ball that Manchester United could win the league this season, because I think there are better teams and better squads.
The center forward position is probably a problem, due to Cavani’s age and whether he will play enough matches. But if Greenwood comes out on top, maybe, just maybe, they’re screaming.
Manchester United continues their Premier League campaign on Sunday with a trip to St Mary’s to face Southampton.
