Harry and Meghan believe the Queen didn’t get ‘total ownership’ of the royal race row, biographers claim

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are unhappy with the Queen’s response to allegations made against the royal family in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, including accusations of racism, their biographer claims.

Harry and Meghan don’t believe the monarch has taken “full ownership” of the issues they raised and feel “little accountability” has been taken since, according to royal writers Omid Scobie and Caroline Durand.

In the explosive interview, which aired in early March, Meghan claimed that “concerns” about “how dark” her baby’s skin would be were expressed to Harry by an unnamed member of the royal family.

She also said that she experienced suicidal thoughts during her tenure as a senior royal and claimed that she was denied assistance with her mental health by senior palace officials.

In the wake of the couple’s allegations, Buckingham Palace issued a statement on behalf of the Queen saying the issues raised were “disturbing” but “memories may differ”.

This comment “didn’t go unnoticed” by Harry and Meghan, claim Scooby and Durand in a new conclusion to the couple’s unauthorized autobiography, Finding Freedom, published by People magazine.

Elsewhere in Oprah’s interview, Harry claimed his family cut him off financially and said his father, Prince Charles, stopped answering his calls after stepping down from his royal duties.

He also said racism was a “large part” of his decision to leave the UK.

Harry and Meghan, who have lived in California since leaving Britain, have signed deals with Netflix and Spotify as they pursue financial freedom.

Scooby told People that the couple are “excited” to enter a “new era of vision.”

“It seems that they are located in a different place, and this place is much healthier,” he said.

“Meghan famously talked about surviving wasn’t enough – we’re now in the thriving season.”
