Mikel Arteta wants two more contracts with Arsenal after Ramsdale and Odegaard deals

Arsenal are still looking to bring in two new faces – and offload a host of players – once they seal rubber-stamp deals for Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard, according to reports.

Arsenal have finally agreed a £30m deal with Sheffield United for the goalkeeper, while talks with Real Madrid to sign Odegaard progress well.

The two players are likely to cost around £60m together, which would put Arsenal’s summer spending above the £130m mark – although they don’t intend to stop there.

According to Football.London, Arteta still wants to sign two more before the transfer window closes: a new striker and a right-back.

These deals depend on expenses, however, with the North London club needing to make space in the team and raise funds.

Hector Bellerin, who has not played against Brentford, is still keen to leave the club and the possibility of using the Spaniard as a big weight in a swap deal for Kieran Trippier has been described as a “real possibility”.

Arteta is keen to add a new right-back to his squad, with Calum Chambers lining up there for the first game of the Premier League, and Norwich City’s Max Aarons being another name Arsenal have been linked with.

A new striker is also on the agenda, although this will again require Arsenal to find a buyer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette with both players available, a suitable offer to be made.

Roma’s eye-catching Sead Kolasinac and Lucas Torreira have rounded off the list of players Arsenal are looking to cash in, with Edu working tirelessly behind the scenes to try to clear some of the club’s dead wood.

Speaking last week, Arteta said: “It’s been a tough window. Maybe a lot of things are going to happen in the last week or so.

“We’re talking about perhaps the toughest transfer market in the industry over the last few years and we’re trying to adapt.”
