The camera captured the tragic moment when Taliban fighters attacked a CNN reporter and fired AK-47s at her crew while demanding that she cover her face.

Clarissa Ward was reporting from Kabul airport on Wednesday when a Taliban fighter with a club approached her and demanded through an interpreter that she hide her face.

I told those watching that he was claiming the United States was responsible for the chaotic scenes as Afghans tried to enter the airport and flee the country.

He reportedly told her, “The reason for all this is America in Afghanistan.”

“Look at these people. America really is behaving unfairly towards them. Why do they lie and tell them they can go to America? Why don’t they stay and help their country?”

Ward was then informed that the fighter did not want to speak to her.

She tells viewers that her crew will be leaving to avoid confrontation, but is followed by desperate Afghans to show their papers and seek help in getting to the airport.

“I don’t want this man to flog you,” she said to one of the men as she asks him to go ahead and approach more angry Taliban fighters.

“He worked in the American camps and can’t get to the airport,” she says.

“The Taliban fighters are a little uncomfortable with us,” Ward continues.

She and her crew decided to return to the car as Taliban fighters took the safety of their AK47s and pushed through the crowd.

Ward was urged to ‘stay behind him [the fighter]. “

“These Taliban fighters are jumping on adrenaline or I don’t know what, it’s a very difficult situation,” she said before they suddenly rush out.

The Taliban are raising their guns to CNN producer Brent Swiles.

“When the fighters were told we had permission to attend, they put down their weapons and let us pass,” Ward recounts in the footage, while her team is shown rushing toward the car.

“You can imagine, that’s us, a news crew, that’s obviously Western, and we’re still prone to madness,” she says.

“If you’re a normal Afghan trying to get through these Taliban guards and trying to get to the airport, I don’t really see how you can get in unless you have some kind of connection or connection but the infrastructure isn’t in the right place to do that.

“As a result, you have all these poor people sitting outside the airport for days on end now and that’s their last hope but there is no real hope.”

It comes just days after Taliban fighters threatened to flog Sowells with a pistol while he was doing another report with Ward.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden was accused of telling “bald lies” while defending his handling of the crisis in Afghanistan in an interview with a car crash around Kabul.

The president has taken photographs showing stowaway travelers falling to death while trying to escape the Taliban on US planes.

Biden appeared to show no remorse after scenes of chaos in Kabul that saw US diplomats hastily evacuated as the rebels seized control of the capital on Sunday.

Biden slammed for chaos

Critics have compared the decline to the fall of Saigon in 1975, which effectively ended the Vietnam War.

“No, I don’t think it could have been handled in a way, we’ll come back in hindsight and look,” Biden told ABC on Wednesday.

“But the idea that somehow, there’s a way out without making a mess, I don’t know how that happens. I don’t know how it happened.”

Biden has come under investigation into images of chaos seen at Kabul airport earlier this week that saw stowaways fall to death and desperate Afghans crushed in a stampede.

“That was four days ago, five days ago!” he told George Stephanopoulos.

The president said he thought “we have to get this under control” when he first saw the scenes emerging from Kabul.

“We have to move more quickly,” he said. “We have to move in a way that we can control that airport. And we did.”

Biden also told ABC that troops will remain in Afghanistan after August 31 if not all Americans are evacuated by that date.

Last month, the president said the US military mission in the war-torn country would have ended by that date.

He has previously pledged to bring all US forces home by the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
